Women’s Health and Environmental Toxins
Every year as the rate of diseases for women increase, scientists, researchers and health professionals are making
significant connections between the role of environmental toxins and their effects on women’s health. Environmental toxins exist everywhere – in the air we breathe, the water we drink and in the food we consume. It’s staggering to realize that since World War II, over 100,000 toxic chemicals have been released into the environment.
A 2009 study by the Environmental Working Group found 48 toxic chemicals in the urine samples of five prominent women environmental activists who live across the U.S. These chemicals are commonly used in everyday consumer products and have been linked to birth defects, hormonal disfunction and increased cancer rates.
